Three of Strong Grand Opening

Three of Strong is holding their grand opening starting today and through the weekend:

  • Friday – Master Distiller Graham Hamblett will be signing labels of the Three of Strong silver rum. The Maine Maple Creamee food truck will be onsite.
  • Saturday – Chef Evan Mallet from Black Trumpet in Portsmouth will preparing a pig roast with dessert by the Morton’s Moo ice cream food truck.
  • Sunday – there will be a shuffleboard tournament with food by Eighty 8 Donuts and Rebel Cheesteaks.

This Week’s Events: Welcome Feast, Honey Bee Dinner, Cape Farm Alliance

Wednesday – Tempo Arts is holding the third of their Welcome Feasts, and the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Thursday – Union is serving a Honey Bee Dinner, and the Inn by the Sea is serving a Cape Farm Alliance Dinner.

Saturday – the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

MondayCherry Bombe will be recording a panel discussion podcast among Erin French of The Lost Kitchen, Leigh Kellis of Holy Donut, Briana Holt of Tandem Coffee Roasters, Jacqueline Dole of Parlor Ice Cream, Cara Stadler of BaoBao and Lio, Rebecca Charles of Pearl Kennebunk Beach and Spat Oyster Cellar, and Briana Warner of Atlantic Sea Farms at The Press Hotel (sold out), and Eaux and Oxbow are collaborating on a burger night at the brewery tasting room on Washington Ave.

Wednesday – the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Truffle Shuffle

Bay Area truffle purveyor Truffle Shuffle (website, facebook, instagram) is coordinating with Maine Beer Company, and with chefs from a variety of restaurants to showcase their truffles:

  • Central Provisions
  • Chaval
  • Duckfat
  • Gross Confection Bar
  • Izakaya Minato
  • Mr. Tuna
  • Piccolo
  • The Highroller Lobster Co.
  • Tipo
  • the Bitter End in Wells

Chefs from participating restaurants will all feature truffle-based dishes on their menus this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maine Beer Company’s pizza chef, Parker Auger, will have 2 “truffle-ized” items on the menu on Saturday and staff from Truffle Shuffle will be onsite to talk about their products.

This Week’s Events: Best Thing I Ever Ate, Book Signing, Welcome Feast, Full Plates Event

Monday – An episode of The Best Thing I Ever Ate which includes Krista Kern Desjarlais from The Purple House will be airing on the Cooking Channel at 9 pm.

Tuesday – Print bookstore will be hosting the release party and book signing for the new edition of Portland Maine Chef’s Table.

Wednesday – there will be a South African wine tasting at the Old Port Wine Merchants, the July edition of the Tempo Welcome Feast is taking place, and the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Friday – they’ll be a wine tasting at the Brighton Ave Rosemont, and a pop-up bar at Grace.

Saturday – the Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – a Full Plates Full Potential event is taking place at Oxbow featuring food and drink by Oxbow, Duckfat, Chaval, Piccolo, Slab, The Honey Paw, Terlingua, Bob’s Clam Hut, O Oysters, Bresca & The Honey Bee, The Holy Donut.

Monday – Flood’s and Oxbow are teaming up on a Burger Night taking place at Oxbow on Washington Ave.

Wednesday – the Monument Square Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Friday – it’s the opening day for Monte’s Fine Foods (website, facebook, instagram). Monte’s plans to open at 9 am; they’re located at the corner of Washington and Ocean Avenues. Monte’s is owned by Steven Quattrucci and Neil Rouda. Former Little Bigs co-owner, Pamela Fitzpatrick Plunkett, has joined the staff to to manage their bakery operations. The West End Rosemont is holding a wine tasting. It’s the launch of the Yakitori Night at Duckfat Frites Shack.

Saturday – Evo is hosting a Chopped re-match between Evo’s chef Matt Ginn and his former competitor chef Airis Johnson. The Deering Oaks Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Maine Apple Camp 2019

Registration for the Maine Apple Camp is now open. MAC is a 3-day gathering of apple enthusiasts, orchardists and cider makers taking place at the Maine Heritage Orchard in Liberty, Maine on August 16-18.

The program includes a talk on the history of apples in Maine by John Bunker, a round table on wild apple foraging, a presentation on apple storytelling, a guided cider tasting, a meeting of Cider Club, and more.
