Rose Foods Guest Chef Series

Rose Foods is launching their 2nd annual guest chef program later this month. Each week a guest chef will create a signature bagel sandwich that will be featured on the menu Friday – Sunday.

Here’s the 2020 schedule:

  • April 3 – 5, The Honey Paw
  • April 10 – 12, Noble BBQ
  • April 17 – 19, Cong Tu Bot
  • April 24 – 26, Drifters Wife
  • May 1 – 3, Ramona’s

MondayMaine Restaurant Week continues through Thursday.

Tuesday – there will be a French wine dinner at Tipo.

Saturday – the Winter Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – the Semifinals for the Bar Madness bartender competition is  taking place.

Wednesday – South Portland restaurant Judy Gibson is opening for business, and Izakaya Minato and Eaux are putting on a one-night collaboration, Izakaya Minateaux.

Saturday – Milk & Honey/Swallowtail Farm is hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner, and the Winter Farmers’ Market is taking place.

SundayHelm is holding a pop-up at Tandem Bakery, and the MRW Spirit Quest is taking place.

Tuesday – there will be a Truffle dinner at Chaval.

Wednesday – the James Beard Foundation will be releasing the list of restaurant and chef semifinalists for this years awards; check back mid-day to see which Maine businesses and people make the list. There will be a Spanish wine dinner at Evo Kitchen + Bar, and Chocolats Passion owner Catherine Wiersema will be giving a talk at Mechanics Hall.

Thursday – Liquid Riot is holding the 2nd Annual Chicken Wing Challenge.

Friday – the annual MRW Incredible Breakfast Cook-off is taking place, and the New England Craft Brewers Summit is convening at the Holiday Inn By-the-Bay.

SaturdayRamona’s, the new Philly-inspired sandwich shop under construction on Washington Ave, is holding a pop-up at the Portland Zoo, and the Winter Farmers’ Market is taking place.

Sunday – It’s the first day of Maine Restaurant Week, The Garrison is launching their brunch service, the MRW Crave Tasting and Competition is taking place.

Wednesday – Izakaya Minato and Hugo’s are collaborating on a Kaiseki dinner, Eaux, Belleville and Austin Street are collaborating on a dinner, and Root Wild is teaching a Saurkraut/Kimchi class.

Friday – there will be a surf n turf collaboration between Highroller and Fire & Co.

SundayGuest chef Johnny Spero from Reverie will collaborating with Evo on a dinner, and Turamali is holding a pop-up dinner at Eaux.

Lib’s Midwinter Dairy Experiment

The Portland Phoenix has published an article about Lib’s Dairy Treats and their recent mid-winter opening on National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.

“I know other places open in the winter, but it’s new for us. We have seven dogs and we each work other part-time jobs off season,” Palwoski said. “We were blown away by how busy we were this past Saturday. We intended to stay open until 8 p.m., but ran out of ice cream around 5. We completely underestimated it. And really, the best part was seeing all the familiar faces and people I’ve known for years with their own kids who have grown up in line here.” 

According to the article Lib’s will be open again this Saturday.
