The Salt Exchange is holding a craft beer and cheese social Tuesday night featuring beer from Redhook and their weekly wine event on Wednesday night. The next Wine Flight 5k Training Run is scheduled for Tuesday. There are wine tastings taking place at Leavitt & Sons, Public Market House and Black Cherry Provisions on Thursday. Also on Thursday, The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer of DL Geary. Portland’s weekly Farmers’ Markets are being held in Monument Square on Wednesday and at Deering Oaks Park on Saturday. This year’s MunjFest is taking place on Saturday. Also on Saturday, Raw food chef Lisa Marie Lindenschmidt is teaching a class at Whole Foods. The Great Lost Bear is showcasing the beer of Run of the Mill this week on Thursday. On Friday Susan Olcott from Ocean Conservancy is offering a walking tour to discuss the Casco Bay’s Lobster Fishery. Farmers’ Markets are being held in Monument Square on Wednesday and at Deering Oaks Park on Saturday. This year’s Maine Fare is taking place in Camden this year and will be running Friday through Sunday. Also on Sunday, Rippling Waters Farm is holding their 5th Annual Soil to Supper dinner at their farm in Steep Falls. Maine Fare, etc

The Food & Dining section in today’s Press Herald includes a pair of articles about Maine Fare which is taking place in Camden next month. Meredith Goad authored an overview of the food festival

New Maine Magazine

Maine magazine is set to debut this week with the official launch party taking place on Thursday. According to the their site the party will source food from “The Corner Room, Figa Restaurant, El Rayo Taqueria, and The Salt Exchange with signature drinks by mixologist, John Myers”.
A new article from MaineBiz reports that the 112-page premiere issue will include “a tour of six new Portland restaurants called ‘Eatland.'”

Street Fairs

The Maine Sunday Telegram has reports on yesterday’s African street festival,

For an afternoon, Brown Street was transformed into a setting resembling an African market, with food and other vendors lining the street.

and the St Peter’s Italian Bazaar that started yesterday and continues on today.

The Italian bazaar began in 1926 and is the longest continuously running street festival in Portland, co-chair Ken Giaquinto said.
