The weekly Food and Drink Trivia Contest is at Bull Feeney’s tonight, and on Tuesday, the next Wine Flight 5k Training run is taking place. There are wine tastings scheduled Wednesday at RSVP, Friday at Rosemont on Brighton and Saturday at Scarborough Wine Outlet. On Thursday the Slow Food Book Group is meeting to discuss How to Cook a Wolf by MFK Fisher. Also that evening there’s an Gritty’s showcase at The Great Lost Bear and a Maine Mead Works event at David’s. The annual Bayside World Market and Fair is taking place on Saturday at Deering High. Shannon Bryan joined in on the Wine Flight 5k training run earlier this week and has posted a report on her blog, Portbrio, about the experience. The Wine Flight training runs are a weekly run/walk/jog from Monument Square to a local food producer where participants are treated to a “tasty repast and a refreshing glass of wine or beer awaits”. The training series and the 5k this Fall are organized by the Maine Ambassadors of Food and Drink.

Wealden Farm is teaming up with Rosemont Market to run an urban farmstand once a week at the store on Brighton Ave. Starting tomorrow, Wealden will be at Rosemont on Wednesdays, 2-6 pm.

Jennifer Flock, a Certified Sommelier, is teaching a class this evening on food and wine pairings. The weekly Food and Drink Trivia Contest is at Bull Feeney’s tonight. Sunday evening, Evangeline’s Erik Desjarlais is the featured chef at the Food Film Series presentation of Babette’s Feast. There’s an especially packed calendar of foodie events today with two lectures, 3 wine tastings, a Peak Brewing showcase at Great Lost Bear, Novare Res’s first anniversary celebration and a Portuguese wine dinner (5 courses and 5 wines and a port with presentations from the wine makers) at Local 188.

There’s A LOT going on this week. Rob Evans is teaching a cooking class tonight at Stonewall Kitchens in York. There’s also a gluten-free Italian baking class and the weekly Food and Drink Trivia Contest at Bull Feeney’s. Bar Lola is holding a wine dinner on Tuesday night featuring wines from Argentina. Buy Local is set to announce the results of the 2009 Indie Biz Awards at Empire Dine and Dance on Wednesday night, and Black Tie Bistro is offering a meat & potatoes makeover cooking class. Novare Res is celebrating their one year anniversary on Thursday. Author and food advocate Joel Berg will be speaking at USM Thursday morning and Longfellow Books Thursday night. There are wine tasting Thursday afternoon at Leavitt and Sons and at Black Cherry Provisions. Local 188 is holding a Portuguese wine dinner on Thursday night and there’s also a Peak Brewing showcase going on at Great Lost Bear the same evening. Kitchen & Cork is holding a wine tasting on Saturday. The Great Lost Bear is hosting South African winemaker Jose Conde from Stellenbosch on Wednesday and showcasing beer from Victory Brewing on Thursday. Sunday evening the chefs from Hugo’s and Miyake are teaming up to cook a wine/beer/sake dinner.
