Review of Eventide

The Portland Phoenix has published a review of Eventide.

In addition to oysters, Eventide packs a lot of imagination into a relatively slim menu. Scallops, squid, mussels, clams, lobsters, and a variety of fish are variously cured, pickled, grilled, poached, stewed, or served raw — often kissed with the sharp, clear notes of sour, garlicky, vinegary Asian flavors. Despite the variety it never feels like a jumble, and each dish is its own well-conceived whole.

  1. For me, Eventide is the perfect spot for pre-dinner OYSTERS and a drink. The limited but thoughtful dinner menu offers tasty bites (like their gourmet lobster roll on a THE tiniest steamed bun you’ve ever seen), but it can leave you still wanting while adding a significant dent in your wallet. I tell people to keep this in mind depending on your idea for the evening. Those who really want to endulge in Maine’s great restaurant scene (and they should!) may want to reserve Eventide for appetizers & an oyster fix.
