DC food blogger, Florida Girl in DC recently visited Portland and has published a pair of posts (day 1, day 2) from her two days in the city.
While her she visited the Winter Farmer’s Market, Tandem, Duckfat, Piccolo, Hunt & Alpine, Speckled Ax, Eventide, The Thirsty Pig, Vena’s Fizz House, Street & Co.
I enjoyed reading these love notes to our lovely dining scene, and I do not mean these comments in a mean-spirited way. But I got a chuckle out of 2 things – that she was impressed the barista at Tandem knew 2 DC coffee shops. Oh, you mean the former Blue Bottle employee that also might have been the shop’s owner? And that she loved Piccolo so much that she almost didn’t want to share lest it be overrun with foodies. Oh, you mean, the restaurant from the former Bar Boulud chef de cuisine? Secret’s already out on that one! I get that Maine is kind of off people’s radar, but it’s not so podunk up here!
