Veranda Noodle Bar is now open for business. It’s located directly across the street from Veranda Thai and is owned by the same people. The menu features 12 different soup variations plus a number of non-soup appetizer and meal options.

The Grand Opening for Binga’s Stadium is scheduled for October 8. However, over the next few days they’ve planned a few soft openings with a limited menu so the public can ” preview Binga’s Stadium, eat great food, and help us work through any issues that might arise with this new operation”.

Shima has opened for business. The Japanese restaurant is located in the space formerly occupied Siam Grille.

The premiere issue of Maine magazine is now out. It includes an article on a set of six recently launched or up and coming restaurants in Portland as well as Three Tides beer/cocktail/oyster bar in Belfast, Old Vines wine bar in Kennebunk, and a profile of winemaker Brian Smith. There is an online version of the magazine but you’ll find it easier to read the articles if you nab a print copy. I picked up my copy at Bard Coffee.

The Maine Bean Cafe opened for business this past week. The new business is in the space formerly occupied by Portland Coffee Roasters.
