Sticky Sweet (instagram) opened the Cumberland Ave shop on Saturday. They’ll be back open at 119 Cumberland Ave serving their vegan ice cream on Thursday – Sunday, noon to 10 pm.

Chula Elotes
A new food cart called Chula Elotes (instagram) launched this week. They sell a menu of corn on the cobs that runs from plain with butter, salt and pepper to ones topped with brightly colored ingredients like the Chula and Takis Fuego.
The corn is from Fenderson Farm in Saco.
Pat’s, Skordo, Anania’s
Here are a few more updates on closings, expansion and ownership changes:
- Anania’s Variety has announced they plan to close their store on Broadway in South Portland. According to their post on Instagram, Anania’s had sold that store to another owner a year ago and that individual has decided to move on.
Historical Note: Anania’s was originally founded by Joseph Anania in 1956 as the Newbury Street Market and was located on Newbury Street. - The Press Herald reports that Pat’s Pizza on Market Street has changed hands. Pat’s will temporarily close as part of the transition.
- Old Port kitchen store Skordo has announced plans to open an additional location at the Maine Mall
Rosemont Crooked Mile Cafe Open
The rebuilt Crooked Mile Cafe (website) located at the corner of Brighton and Stevens Aves has reopened for business.
The original building was damaged by a car crash in October 2017 forcing the closure of the cafe.
The Cider House Opened Saturday
The Cider House (instagram) opened for business on Saturday. The bar serves a selection of packaged and draft ciders, cider sangria and other cider-based drinks. There’s also a menu of cheeses (including cider washed gouda), charcuterie and other items.
The Cider House is located at 28 Brackett Street across the street from the West End LB Kitchen.
Old Port Po’ Boys Opens Thursday
The new Old Port location of Po’ Boys & Pickles at 225 Federal Street is set to open on Thursday. They’re still staffing up and so during this initial phase will be open more limited hours, 11 am – 7 pm, and a slightly reduced menu.
Ow a related note, owner Chris Bettera is getting married on August 10th at the Guster concert—apparently the couple are big Guster fans.

The Garrison
The Garrison Opens July 25
Chef Christian Hayes’ new 50-seat restaurant in Yarmouth called The Garrison (website, facebook, instagram) is slated to open on July 25th. The reservation book opens this Sunday.
Hayes was a Chopped Champion in 2018. At The Garrison he plans to serve “his brand of ‘thoughtful food’ inspired by Mediterranean and Asian cuisine”.
Slice of Heaven
Slice of Heaven (instagram) is a new vendor in the Public Market House. They’ve taken over the 2nd floor space formerly occupied by Totally Tubers.
Maine Maple Creemee Co.
A new food truck called the Maine Maple Creemee Co. (instagram) is launching later this week with planned appearances on the Eastern Prom on Friday, and on Washington Ave Saturday and Sunday.
Owner Hannah Daman will be serving Maine Wild Blueberry and Maine Maple creemees on a house-made sugar cone.
‘Creemee‘ is the term for soft serve in the regional vernacular of Vermont. It is traditionally maple flavored.
