Fresh approach opened in the Spring of 1998.

They sell “Cabot products, New England specialty foods, and Maine crafts and souvenirs”.

The Honey Exchange opened August 19, 2011. They sell beekeeping supplies, honey, bee-themed products and honey extraction services for beekeepers.

The Press Herald published an interview with the owners in November 2011.

The market was opened on Stevens Ave in 1951 by Pasquale ‘Pat’ Vacchiano. The original Pat’s opened in the 1920s at the corner of Congress and Washington.

My rating scale only goes to 5 so I guess that’s the best I can do, but The Cheese Iron deserves an extra star. Don’t let the name fool you, a great selection of fine cheeses is just the start. They also sell wine, chocolate from Nutmeg Foods and others, their own custom blend of coffee, bread from Standard, a few choice fruits and vegetables, paninis, and so much more. The staff are charming and very knowledgeable. I’m now addicted.
