@soposeafood has leased the former Uncle Andy’s @soposeafood has leased the former Uncle Andy’s at 171 Ocean Street in South Portland where they plan to open a retail fish shop and raw bar. The menu for the raw bar will include Maine oysters, lobster rolls, seafood crudo, chowder as well as wine by the glass and draft beer, and will be open for lunch and into the early evening. In addition to seafood, the shop will also offer a wine selection. Certified Sommelier Jen Lakari is advising SoPo on their wine program. Sopo specializes in Maine seafood. They sell wholesale and early in the pandemic launched a retail seafood delivery service. The location on Ocean Street will be their first retail storefront. Co-owners Matt Brown, Lucas Myers and Joshua Edgcombe launched SoPo Seafood in March. They plan to start using the Ocean Street property as a curbside pick-up location in December and to open the retail shop and raw bar in May 2021. Cara and Cecile Stadler have announced that they’ve permanently closed @liorestaurantmaine. “Dear Friends, Family and Guests – It is with much sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Lio Restaurant. We were unable to weather the pandemic without some rent relief, and with the decreasing temperatures and increasing Covid cases, can find no viable way forward. We hope our food and wine brought some small moments of joy to you during these difficult times, a reminder of the simple pleasure of a shared meal with the hope for better times to come.” The Stadlers are selling off the bottles in the Lio wine cellar. The Stadler’s other restaurants Bao Bao (Portland) and Zao Ze (Brunswick) remain in business, and the Stadlers will be re-opening Tao Yuan (Brunswick) for “very limited number of private parties, reservations only with a curated menu and minimum spend, starting mid-late October”. #portlandmaine #liorestaurant #carastadler #permanentlyclosed

I started off with a I Told You Before cocktail (Old Tom Gin, apricot, vermouth, lavender, lemon), followed by a delicious swordfish entree (3rd photo) with heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, scallions and a basil/tarragon vinaigrette. For dessert I went with a seasonal apple crostada (4th photo) topped with caramel sauce and accompanied by a dessert cocktail. This was one of the best meals I’ve had at Street since they’ve started updating the menu at this classic Portland restaurant. #portlandmaine #portlandmainefood #streetandco #swordfish #dessertcocktails #applecrostada
