I first heard about 158 described as a bakery but
it's really a small counter service cafe that bakes its own bagels
and breads. Definitely the best bagels in Maine. Actually, they're
the best bagels I've ever had period.
My favorite: For breakfast, a double
toasted everything bagel with herbalizer cream cheese.
Chef and co-owner Josh Potocki was quoted in a New York Times article
about the Portland food scene, “I wouldn’t call
it a competition, I’d call it a collective. We are all trying
to raise the level of food in Portland to insanely
high.”
